We zipped up to the German beach when the weather looked good for a weekend at the end of August. Usedom is 3 hours drive north of Berlin, and claims to be the sunniest place in Germany. It was gloriously sunny for the whole weekend. The moment the girls saw the beach they charged straight down and loved nothing better than building sandcastles and splashing in the sea. Maybe Katherine enjoyed destroying sandcastles a little bit more.
The youth hostel was a 3 minute walk from the beach. Daddy and Mummy took turns jogging along the strand to cross the Polish border. The sea was a little cool but Daddy got to have a nice long swim along the coastline in his wetsuit. Mummy didn't enjoy that as much due to the jelly fish and general scariness of the ocean.
