Weekend fun

Lizzy loves bubbles!

Christmas in May?

I just was looking back over the past 5 months at the photos I have not been able to post and I found some cute ones from her first Christmas opening presents. Had to share them.

Lizzy Walks!

Practicing!
The night before her first day at daycare and the very night that Granny and Grandad left, Elizabeth walked 6 steps for the first time. Daddy was sitting in the glider and Elizabeth pulled up while holding a book. Then she crossed the room, holding the book open with both hands, and brought the book to me. We were so excited that we were both there to witness her first steps at 13 months.

Granny and Grandad Visit!

Granny and Grandad came to visit for 2.5 weeks from 5/1-5/18/2009. We went to Cincinnati for the Flying Pig Half-Marathon and up to Battle Creek, MI for the XTerra MidWest Region Triathlon. Mommy and Daddy are always racing! Granny and Grandad took Elizabeth to Connor Prairie to see the animals and on lots and lots of walk around the neighborhood. They were very helpful watching Elizabeth while Mommy went back to work and also finishing the fence and other jobs around the house. We even have an apple tree in the yard now. Thank you Granny and Grandad!

Daycare begins

After Granny and Grandad left this week, Elizabeth started at daycare on Tuesday 5/19/2009. She is pretty happy there with the other children, but she only eats snacks, no meals. It was a long, tiring week working full-time and getting Lizzy to daycare in the morning. Mommy and Daddy like receiving the report card at the end of the day and Elizabeth completed her first art project this week-finger painting!

First Birthday

When we got back from CO, Grandma came out to visit for a week and a half. She came to help Mommy transition back to work, but I didn't have to work as much, so we had a lot of fun playing. Even though it rained the whole time! We had a great first birthday for Elizabeth.

We celebrated her actual birthday on Friday with family presents. She is enjoying the plastic food from Mommy and Daddy, especially the eggplant and mushrooms! She loves the books, dress and puzzle from Auntie Amanda and family.

We spent most of Friday preparing her cake for Saturday's party. Daddy decided on the Very Hungry Caterpillar theme, and Mommy wanted the cake (made of cupcakes) to be perfect. There was a lot of dye in the icing, but it was yummy! I also found the cookies from last year that she received in the hospital. I had followed all of Auntie Amanda's instructions for freezing the top of the wedding cake in order to freeze the cookies. Lizzy and Mommy liked them!

On Saturday, we had some friends from RR and BF support group come over for the party. We had a good time and Lizzy enjoying opening her presents. There was a lot of drama when she received her "baby" and she wanted it out of the packing immediately. As you know, it takes some serious cutting to get into those toy packages, but our friend Ali came to the rescue and released the baby from its plastic prison, much to Lizzy's delight. She did not really eat much of her cupcake, but gave it a taste and smeared some of her face for her picture!

She is having lots of fun with all her new presents. Thank you everyone for joining us to celebrate!

Lizzy's first bike rides-in February 2009

Lizzy rode in the trailer at Patrick and Amanda's in AZ in February. And this weekend she went for a ride in the infant seat on the back of the Cinelli. I knew we were keeping that bike for some reason!

Back in April...

Over Easter weekend, we went to Breckenridge, CO and stayed in a chalet with some friends. Elizabeth had fun with Lucy, the Great Dane, again. She also enjoyed pushing the stools around the kitchen in the morning and waking up the people sleeping below.

She went snowshoeing for the first time and it snowed on her face, so we used my rainpants to cover her head. I guess we should have brought the backpack and used the raincover (which we haven't used yet...).

Elizabeth found her Easter basket and pulled out her bunny, book and plastic egg. She also got a soft blanket like cousin Allen's from Brookstone, but Daddy said it was silly to take it all the way to CO because it is pretty big.

We went to meet the Easter bunny on the mountain. She wasn't very interested. The photo is on Daddy's phone so I will try to get it on here at some point.
